18 (who?)
You've probably heard that members of the Ugandan Parliament are, once again, moving forward with their Anti-Homosexuality Bill -- better known as the "Kill the Gays" bill because of its draconian consequences for LGBT Ugandans and their allies. The bill calls for imprisonment or death to those who are LGBT, imprisonment for those who help LGBT folks, and even imprisonment for those who know that someone is LGBT and don't report them to the authorities.

Where did this bill come from? The United States.
This bill was created and the fires beneath it were stoked by American right-wing evangelicals like Scott Lively, Rick Warren, Lou Engle, and many others. Though some have now backtracked from their role in moving this bill forward, many are pressing forward -- delighted at their success.. The worst part is that there are also American politicians who are connected through a secretive group called "The Family" who have the power to put an end to this bill, but refuse to do so.

This bill just hit the docket for consideration, and will come up for debate and a vote very shortly. Will you join our call to American politicians to denounce the bill and spare LGBT Ugandans from almost-certain death?…

Unfortunately, this bill is no joke. The consequences for LGBT Ugandans are severe, and we've been in contact with several groups that have organizers on the ground right now. There's a very small window of opportunity right now to publicly call out those American elected officials who could -- if they chose to do so -- step in with their friends at the Ugandan Parliament and ask them to kill this bill.

The pressure is on to save our LGBT Ugandan sisters and brothers from the harm that American evangelicals and politicians have heaped on them. Can you take just two minutes to sign this petition, which we will deliver to the American politicians who can step in right away and put a stop to this horrifying bill?…

Thank you -- and please share this petition as widely as possible in order to shout the truth through the halls of Congress and to let our sisters and brothers in Uganda know that we have their backs...

For equality,

Felipe, Heather, Robin, and the GetEQUAL community

I'd just like to note "The Family" does in fact refer to Focus on the Family/The Family Institute and its branches, such as the state ones like The Illinois Family Institute. I'd also like to remind everyone Exodus International was also backing this bill.
These are hateful organizations that want to kill people.

I may not condone their sin but I agree that they should not be killed. That would be murder. God condemns murder.

Killing the Gays is not the right thing to do. I agree.

Rick Warren definitely doesn't support this bill, take caution in slandering others in peaceful protest.

Rick Warren is an anti-gay pastor who has had major work in Uganda about HIV/AIDS-stopping.

Just reading about this bill and knowing that someone dared to create such a horrendous and seemingly inhumane thing fills me with deep anger. I mean, good god. Flat-out disgusting, the amount of intolerance shown by this thing.

:iconfacepaulmplz: things like this make me doubt people's humanity. why would anyone rather see two men or women holding guns than holding hands?

... Really? :stare: Fucking Really? There's already enough strife over in Africa, and some fucknuggets decide to make it even worse. Why? Because they dislike LGBT individuals. For no fucking reason. I don't even know why homophobia exists in the first place, but these dumbasses took it to a whole new level of bullshit. This better be some kind of cruel joke.

I would vote against it in a heartbeat - But alas - I am only a child.

One thing I have to say, if this is passed, and the only way it could is if those cunts cheat, the U.N. better get off their ass and do something about it. There are enough men, women, and children suffering in Uganda as is, and LGBT individuals getting brutally massacred is not helping.

i wish children could have some sort of say in the government. but, what do we know? it's not like we're trying to be peaceful and have humanity or something. [sarcasm]
