Frued has similar views. However, he interpreted it differently and decided that female orgasms from clitoral stimulation (almost all of them) was just prolonged penis envy. Hence, he became a proponent of female circumcision, as he deemed the clit 'unwomanly'. So, you know, not a fan of this stamp.
Freud is a fucking douche who made up half of his "findings". I do not in any way condone Freud's bullshit, and I never have.
What I do condone is playful alternative interpretation of our anatomies and celebration of the similarities between men and women, instead of trying to shove them as far apart as possible and as such make them out to be entirely different species, which I believe is a cause of a lot of our gender-based social ills. And also, this little nickname could make FTMs and genderqueer females feel better about themselves.
I agree that it is good to learn more about how people work and our similarities (I agree with most of what you said). As we belong to the same species and presumably used to be asexual, the similarities between genders are unsurprising. I still can't hear a clit compared to a penis without thinking of freud, though, and most comparisons I hear are unfavorable (eg, a penis is a better version of a clit). The organs are more different than we presume, but notably dissimilar.
I'd never heard about anything about us formerly being asexual, unless you're speaking of microbiological times.
Some people do compare our phallic body parts on a "better/worse" scale, that doesn't mean that's what I'm doing. Our organs and bodies do have their differences, but I think we should concentrate more on similarities and unite instead of divide. I find nothing wrong with referring to a clit as an "iceberg penis" or a penis as a "man clit".
Yes, I meant a very long time ago... we must have been at some point, as reproduction that requires two individuals is very complicated, but we would have looked nothing like what we think of as mammalian.
